Ace Your Ofsted Inspection: How Deesha Streamlines Data for Outstanding Behaviour and Attendance
OFSTED Inspection and Deesha: Data-Driven Success
Ofsted is transitioning to a new inspection framework, marking a significant shift in how educational quality is assessed. This change will impact all education providers and ITE. This article outlines the key details of the proposed framework, including the new grading scale and the ongoing consultation process
Ofsted is finally ending their ungraded inspection from this autumn, starting November 2025 for all education providers and ITE from January 2026. Starting September 2025 Ofsted will help providers to be ready for the inspection and the new format. Ofsted currently proposed format of reporting post inspection has been drawn after the conclusion of BigListen. The new format and proposed inspection framework and report is currently in consultation and will run for 12 weeks from 3rd Feb to 28th April 2025.
A core element of the proposed framework is a new 5-point grading scale. This scale aims to provide a clearer picture of the quality of provision across different evaluation areas. The proposed grades are:
Exemplary: The highest quality of provision.
Strong
Secure
Attention Needed
Causing Concern: The lowest quality of provision.
This scale replaces the previous ungraded system, offering more nuanced distinctions between levels of performance. The development of this scale involved extensive reviews and workshops, reflecting a commitment to thoroughness.
The Consultation Process:
Educators and providers are strongly encouraged to participate in the ongoing consultation. Your feedback is crucial in shaping how Ofsted can effectively raise educational standards while maintaining the trust and collaboration of education professionals. You may help create a system that encourages accountability and ongoing development by sharing your knowledge. The deadline for consultations is April 28, 2025.
Ofsted Inspection Areas and Focus on Behaviour and Attendance
Ofsted will evaluate several key areas in all educational settings, including independent schools:
Leadership and governance
Curriculum
Developing teaching
Achievement
Behaviour and attitudes
Attendance
Personal development and well-being
Inclusion
Safeguarding
Early years in schools (where applicable)
Sixth form in schools (where applicable)
Context Matters:
A significant aspect of the new inspection framework is the recognition that providers operate under diverse circumstances. Ofsted inspectors will now consider the context and demographic data of each institution when conducting evaluations, acknowledging the operational challenges faced by different providers.
Focus on Behaviour and Attendance:
This article specifically addresses the crucial areas of behaviour and attitudes and attendance. How can you, as a provider, ensure you have robust and factual evidence to demonstrate excellence in these areas? This is where Deesha can play a pivotal role. We will explore how Deesha supports other Ofsted evaluation areas in future articles.
Introducing Deesha: Data-Driven Insights for Educational Excellence
Deesha (pronounced D-IY-SHA) means "insightful vision," and that's precisely what our platform provides. We recognised that educational institutions have access to vast amounts of data but often struggle to effectively utilise it for strategic decision-making. Deesha was created to bridge this gap.
Our platform streamlines manual data collection and analysis, empowering educational leaders to focus on their core mission: the pupils and their education. Deesha offers nine modules covering the full spectrum of educational data and analytics. This article focuses on our Student Information module, which specifically addresses attendance, behaviour, and student headcount.
Ofsted Preparation: Like Preparing for Exams
Just as students prepare for external exams, educational providers must be equally prepared for Ofsted inspections. Deesha helps you achieve this preparedness by providing the data-driven insights you need to demonstrate excellence.
Ofsted Inspection Toolkits:
Ofsted is developing evaluation inspection toolkits for each inspection area. These toolkits outline the standards against which providers will be assessed. These standards are informed by statutory and non-statutory guidance, professional frameworks, research, and expectations relevant to different educational stages and types. Deesha helps you align your practices with these standards.

Ofsted Inspection Toolkit for Behaviour and Attitude
A snippet of Ofsted behaviour toolkit is below and you can read more about toolkits here.
A snippet of the attendance toolkit proposed is below.
The proposed Ofsted attendance toolkit highlights several critical factors that differentiate a school "causing concern" from one demonstrating "strong" performance:
Leadership Capacity: The ability of leaders to effectively identify and address barriers to good attendance is paramount.
Data Insight: Leaders must possess a deep understanding of attendance data and trends. Limited insight will hinder improvement efforts.
Monitoring and Analysis: Effective monitoring and analysis of attendance data are essential. Schools that don't monitor well are at risk.
Proactive Intervention: Leaders must go beyond simply reporting on what works. They need to analyse data, identify patterns, and implement targeted interventions.
Addressing Barriers: Successfully identifying and tackling barriers to attendance is crucial. Failure to do so will negatively impact the inspection outcome.
Timely Response to Issues: Reported bullying or disruptive behavior must be addressed quickly and effectively. Delays in handling these issues will be viewed unfavorably.
Deesha: Bridging the Gap Between Data and Action
Deesha was designed to address the common challenge of having data available but not being able to easily access and utilise it effectively. Deesha's Student Information Module: Attendance, Behaviour, and Headcount Insights
Deesha's Student Information module offers comprehensive data analysis without requiring schools to change their existing operational systems. This module comprises three key subcategories: Attendance, Behaviour, and Headcount.
Subcategory: Attendance
Deesha's Attendance dashboard provides detailed insights into attendance trends, year-over-year (YoY) and month-over-month (MoM), across various student demographics (EAL, PP, SEN). Data is refreshed daily, ensuring you have the most up-to-date information. For multi-academy trusts, the module provides a consolidated view of attendance across all schools, enabling central teams to quickly identify and support schools with lagging attendance rates. Drill-down capabilities allow for in-depth analysis of individual school data, revealing the strengths and weaknesses that contribute to attendance patterns. Near real-time MoM data empowers leaders to take timely action and prevent attendance issues from escalating.
This level of detailed, readily accessible attendance data is invaluable for Ofsted preparation, demonstrating a strong analytical foundation and proactive approach to attendance management.
Beyond trends and patterns, Deesha identifies correlations between attendance and other data points, providing a holistic understanding of the factors influencing attendance. The "Key Influencers" feature on every dashboard reveals the factors that most significantly impact the metrics you're analysing, enabling proactive monitoring, measurement, and intervention.
Subcategory: Behaviour
Deesha's Behaviour dashboard provides a comprehensive breakdown of the reasons and influencing factors behind student behaviour. This allows teachers and leaders to analyse root causes and implement targeted interventions. Daily data refreshes make it easy to track the effectiveness of these interventions and monitor progress. The dashboard provides a clear overview of behaviour trends, allowing leaders to identify areas where improvements are needed.
Empowering Trusts and Schools
For multi-academy trusts, Deesha's high-level group dashboards provide a clear overview of behaviour trends across all schools within the trust. This allows central teams to quickly identify schools needing additional support and allocate specialised resources where they are most needed to address repeated disruptions.
Embedding Deesha's Student Information module demonstrates a commitment to data-driven analysis and continuous improvement. The high-level dashboards provide at-a-glance insights into overall performance, while the detailed drill-down capabilities empower schools to pinpoint areas for improvement. If the high-level data looks positive, you can focus your time on other priorities. However, if the data reveals concerning trends, you can immediately analyse the detailed breakdowns to understand the root causes and implement targeted solutions before issues escalate.
Customisable Metrics for Your Unique Needs
Deesha offers 378 metrics across its various modules. However, we understand that every school and trust is unique. That's why Deesha's metrics are fully customisable. If your institution tracks data points beyond our pre-built metrics, we can custom-build those metrics for you.
Our powerful data intelligence platform, which powers our data visualisations, enables schools to customise the measures they want to track and analyse.
